The fabric

'Exotic Flowers in Cedar Brown' is woven by a long-established Kyoto fabric maker dating back to the mid-18^th century. This elegant floral print was hand painted by artisan masters in a manner that evokes water colours. It is a mid-weight fabric and has an intricate tonal jacquard arabesque pattern, known as a ‘Sarasa’ style, which is said to have originated from Indian fabrics brought by the Portuguese in the 16th to 17th centuries.
