The fabric

'Festival Scene in Slate Grey' was originally created with the intention of being made in a haori, the jacket traditionally worn over a kimono, and has a slightly heavier handle as a result. The motif appears to depict scenes from Kyoto’s annual Gion Festival, a popular theme for kimono textiles during the 1960s, which is likely when this fabric was produced.
